Hi fellow archivists and retro-computing enthusiasts!
If you have, like me, liked 2010-era Nokia smartphones (because they were smartphones!), you probably heard of Symbian S60, their OS. There was a cool app called ActiveFile, made by Alie Tan. Its source was hosted on code.google.com, but has unfortunately disappeared since.
If any of you, my dear readers, have a copy of the sources on an old disk somewhere, I will pay you the bounty in any form you want (can be a donation in your name, can be a bank transfer, I can even mail cash to you, any currency or item I can reasonably get hold of), up to 50 (fifty) € (EUR euros), and publicly announce the winner.
The rules are simple:
- Publish it on an open source Git hosting: no GitHub allowed. Try SourceHut or Codeberg, or even copyleft.market, which is my new experiment (GitLab might tempt you, but it is not truly open source, so don’t).
- Another 50€ if you get the full revision history.
- The first person or team gets to decide where the bounty goes, and can consider others. I give the rest a big shoutout.
- All search techniques allowed! (except crimes! no extortion, no threatening Alie Tan)
If you get just the binaries (which I already have), that’s great, too. I will give first 10 people or so honorable mentions for trying.
Alie Tan, if this message ever reaches you, you are also eligible! Your software was great and that’s why I want it so bad I’m paying almost 20% of my current monthly budget. Man, I should go get a ‘real’ job.
(I got some info that you are not subscribed to my RSS yet. That’s fine, but just think about all the great posts you are missing!)
